	Control and Maximization of Tobacco Smoke Dose in Chronic Animal Studies (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-12)
		Studies in various laboratories (4,5) with the two labeled aliphatic hydrocarbons suggest that the dotriacontane is almost exclusively transferred to the particle phase of tobacco smoke and is well suited to study smoke particle deposition, while hexadecane appears to be too volatile to be useful for this purpose.
		An intra- tracheal injection study with these two hydrocarbons indicated that hexadecane, in contrast to dotriacontane, disappeared from the lungs very rapidly (Figure l)*, suggesting that it might not be advisable to use it as a tracer for deposition studies.
		We suspect that they may be due to either different up- take or retention of the two smoke tracers (nicotine versus 14C- dotriacontane) or that there may be losses of nicotine from the exposure chamber which are not accounted for in the chamber depletion method.

		Solubilities of Tetracosane, Octacosane, and Dotriacontane in Supercritical Ethane
		The solubilities of tetracosane, octacosane, and dotriacontane in ethane were determined at a temperature of 308.15 K and at pressures ranging from 50 bar to 200 bar.
		The solubilities obtained in this work were modeled using the translated Trebble-Bishnoi-Salim (TBS) EOS which correlated the solubility data successfully to within an average error of 6% for all the systems studied.

	Session Y31 - Surface Phase Transitions.
		Using high-resolution ellipsometry and stray-light measurements, we have studied the growth of dotriacontane (n-C_32H_66, denoted C32) films adsorbed on Si(100) single-crystal surfaces.
		The films were adsorbed by dip-coating the substrate in C32/heptane solutions of different concentrations, resulting in initial film thicknesses ranging from \sim2 to \sim20 monolayers (ML).
		The quasielastic neutron scattering (QNS) intensity from monolayer films of tetracosane (n-C_24H_50) and dotriacontane (n-C_32H_66) adsorbed on graphite has been measured experimentally over a range of wavevector transfers Q at temperatures spanning the monolayer melting point.

	Session S12 - Thin Films IV: Growth Mechanisms and Diffusion in Monolayers.
		Synchrotron x-ray specular reflectivity measurements have been used to investigate the structure and growth mode of dotriacontane (n-C_32H_66 or C32) films adsorbed from a heptane (n-C_7H_16) solution onto SiO_2-coated Si(100) substrates.
		Our results for dotriacontane are consistent with three different wetting topologies proposed recently\footnote C. Merkl, T. Pfohl, and H.
		However, in conflict with this previous wetting model, we find direct evidence of a monolayer phase closest to the SiO_2 surface in which the molecules are oriented with their long axis parallel rather than perpendicular to the interface.

	APS - 2006 APS March Meeting - Event - Comparison of Thickness and Morphology of Dotriacontane Films on SiO$_{2}$/Si ... (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-12)
		We have used Very High Resolution Ellipsometry (VHRE) and Atomic Force Microscopy in the noncontact mode to compare the thickness and morphology of dotriacontane ($n$-C$_{32}$H$_{66}$ or C32) films deposited by two different methods on Si(100) wafers coated with their native oxide.
		During deposition, the substrate temperature was held below the bulk melting point of C32.
		Heating/cooling cycles were performed on these two sample types while conducting VHRE and stray light intensity measurements in order to compare the wetting behavior and surface roughness of C32 as a function of film thickness on both hydrophilic and hydrophobic SiO$_{2}$/Si surfaces.
