Double Dragon - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-12)
Double Dragon Advance was a remake of the original arcade version of Double Dragon which featured new stages, techniques, weapons and enemy characters (most of them derived from the subsequent) in addition to those found in the original game.
Double Dragon V was critically panned by both critics and Double Dragon fans for its poor presentation, cartoon-based graphics (in contrast to the more realistic look and tone of the actual games in the series) and completely derivative gameplay.
Double Dragon V was released for the SNES, Genesis and Atari Jaguar platforms, with each version generally recognized as becoming progressively worse.

The first Double Dragon is a classic, there really is no questioning this "fact." The first sequel, "DD2: The Revenge," changed very little.
The music is still just as good as it was in the first 2 games in the series, but the wonderful "thud" of your fist connecting with an enemies face has been replaced by a sound that can only be described as tinny.
Yes, this is the first DD with ability to play with 3 players, but unless you pay someone to join in, you'll never actually use this feature.

The graphics in Double Dragon 3 were not the best in the world I admit (look at screen shots from things such as Battle Of Olympus then look at Double Dragon 3) but they weren’t the worst (unlike Kick Off or Duck Tales 2) but that’s not the point.
Double Dragon 3 was mostly full of men fighting but it wasn’t totally sexist, it did include some women.
On Double Dragon 3 there was a two-player mode but it had a few glitches.

Double Dragon is the Grandfather of Side Scrolling beat-em-ups.
Double Dragon 2 picks up the slack though with a definate A- outing, that game was truely fun and had quite a bit of replay with the difficulties and multiplayer capabilities.
Double Dragon 3 is a B- with the difficulty and repitition dragging down an otherwise very nice game.

Double Dragon 3: The Rosetta Stone download @ Game Downloads   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-12)
One of the nicer parts of this game is the background story - you are searching for three mysterious stones and are travelling to many different places - everytime you finish that scene that old man comes up to you telling you some more mysterious things.
Ask any longtime action gamer, and most will tell you that Technos’ classic arcade classic Double Dragon series took a nosedive with the final game in the trilogy, Double Dragon III: The Rosetta Stone.
The arcade version met with only lukewarm response, so naturally the NES version (which is always the best port), is still a lot less fun than the first two games.

Double Dragon, from Japan Technos Corporation (apparently rebadged by Taito in the USA), is a standard two-player cooperative (simultaneous) 2-way scrolling (in some places, 4-way scrolling) side-on beat'em up game.
The object of the game is to rescue your girlfriend; if both players survive to the end of the game, then before the game will end, one player has to beat up the other, which is a nice touch of realism.
Double Dragon uses a horizontal low-res monitor, one or two 8-way joysticks with three buttons, and it has a standard JAMMA pinout.

Double Dragon 3 NES - Digital Press Online   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-12)
You can be sure there were quite a few people baffled when they stepped up the arcade cabinet for "Double Dragon 3." Wildly different (not in a good way) than its predecessors, the game was a major step back for the series.
The Lee brothers make a return more or less intact from "Double Dragon II." Most of their move set remains, though some new throws (including a spectacular, yet hard to pull off, flipping toss) have been added to their repertoire.
This is a great beat-em-up, probably the best on the system next to Capcom's awesome "Mighty Final Fight." You could even say it holds up well when stacked against some of the 16-bit offerings (of which there are many, to say the least).

Double Dragon II - Reader Review - GameFAQs
While the Double Dragon has it's share of lackluster titles (like the Arcade version of Double Dragon 3), the overall series is not as bad as people think it is (just as long as you exclude Battletoads vs. Double Dragon and Double Dragon 5, which are NOT actual Double Dragon games).
Eurocom's Double Dragon 3 was for most part, an accurate port of the Arcade game, but that wasn't good to begin with and the messed up the controls a bit and ruined the music.

Double Dragon Advance mixes the addicting gameplay of the original with many upgrades and elements from the various sequels released after the original.

04-14-2003 12:30 AM i beat the nes version, but overall it was nowhere as good at the first 2, it was then that the double dragosn jsut got silly and were being whored out for lame game plots rather than just being a pair of martial arts masters/vigellanties(i definitly misspelled that one).
