		The biological plausibility of ETS exposure leading to lung cancer was enhanced in a recent study by William Parsons, a physician at Sainte Anne's Hospital in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, Québec, working in cooperation with Stephen Hecht of the University of Minnesota Cancer Center in Minneapolis.
		In the third, exposure of spouses of smokers to ETS was associated with an increased risk of cervical cancer and intraepithelial neoplasia in nonsmokers, but the result was of borderline statistical significance.
		Postnatal exposure to ETS also appears to have deleterious effects on the health of young children, according to a chapter on ETS in Environmental Toxicants (in press) by Jonathan Samet and Sophia Wang, researchers at the School of Hygiene and Public Health at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland.
