  Rules of the game
One letter has to be on the pink square marked with an star at the centre of the board.
The score or point value of each letter is indicated by a number at the bottom of the tile.
The score for each turn is the sum of the score values in each word formed or modified in play, plus the premium values resulting from placing letters on premium squares.

Once words are on the board, letters from the board can be exchanged with tray letters as long as a word is placed on the board at the time of the exchange AND as long as the new word(s) is(are) also a word(s).
Also, when we are putting small words down that may be blocking possible double double word scores and the other person is working madly to try to fill that space, we defer to the person who will receive the higher score.
The incentive to finish first is enhanced by not only subtracting the value of the leftover tiles from the score of the person who still has tiles left, but adding the same value to the score of the person who finished first.

When playing a blank tile, you must state what letter it represents, print that letter on a separate piece of paper, and show this paper to your opponent, all before ending your turn.

The goal of the game is to create as many anagrams as possible from a set of letters, and achieving as many points as possible when doing this.
The number of points is the total value of the letters in the words (the value of each letter is printed on it's tile), except for when you have a special tiles in the word.
The value of this tile is just the value of the letter occupying it, and it does nothing special to the value of a word it is included in.

You know, where the triple-triple would have a high scoring letter land on the double-letter score at the same time.
I found some of the new six letter words that can be extended both with one letter, and a second letter.

I presume a corner triple word score was left hanging with a word to hook the "s" to, while running the other way was a single letter at the side of the board allowing the eight-letter play to cover two triple word scores.
There are many helpful suggestions that can improve your score with study, like word lists to memorize over time, and exercises to improve your abiity to see words from the letters in your rack.
And your opponent may suspect that an E is not a good letter to play, but there are still good odds that you will see a word with an E in it.

You can double your opportuinities by allowing the tiles of your words to be placed either forwards or backwards on the board.
I assume if you make a play that can be read either direction, you score double.
[phundug], with respect to scoring double for certain words (NOT palindromes like "nun", but instead words like "tip"), that sounds OK. Next, heh, as it happens, a diagonal-only game can only use about half the squares on the board.

When you get the letter X, if you don't see a nice word like EXPLAIN or SEXPOTS you can still use it to make a surprisingly high-scoring play.
Look for bonus squares (double or triple word or letter scores) next to vowels.
You will draw the letter X in half of your games, and you will be able to make this play more often than not!
