  TJ's Double Play
Unfortunately, this power outage really served as an earthquake drill of sorts: where is the backup to Buddhist for the law school in times of crisis?
The obvious answer last year would have been O’Neill’s, but they have either closed up shop or have been shut down because the health inspector discovered the lead pipes that they pumped their beer through to get it upstairs.
So I have taken it upon myself to rank the top five alternatives to Buddhist in case such a scandal happens in the future:

Optical amplifier with high energy levels systems providing high peak powers - Patent 5867305
The pump pulse duration is less than the fluorescence time constant of the fiber dopant, for example, about 400.mu.sec to 10 msec or higher, so that the pump energy stored in the excited states of dopant ions provides maximum gain to the injected signal pulses rather than being depleted by the onset of scattering noise.
Pumping of the rare-earth doped, double clad fiber amplifier 10 may be also accomplished with the use of a fiber laser as illustrated in FIG.
Pump pulses 41 have a duration of from 10.mu.sec to 500.mu.sec, which is sufficiently short to avoid the onset of scattering noise.

Mothers Who Forgo Breastfeeding for Pumping
The mothers who single pumped spent an average of 27 minutes at each pumping (ranging from 20 to 30 minutes per pumping) 4.6 times a day (ranging from 4 to 5 times per day) for an average of 124 minutes of total pumping daily (ranging from 113 to 135 minutes).
The mothers who double pumped averaged 17.3 minutes at each pumping (ranging from 9 to 40 minutes) an average of 5.3 times per day (ranging from 4 to 7) for an average of 90 minutes of total pumping daily (ranging from 55 to 160 minutes).
The number of pumpings per day varied, depending upon whether the mothers were in the process of increasing their milk supply or it they were getting the amount of milk they wanted.

A 2P-FOPA is pumped at two wavelengths, and four-wave mixing couples the pump photons to the signal and idler photons generated in the amplifier (Figure 1).
One can imagine that the energy in the two pump photons reappears in the signal and idler photons, and the signal and idler wavelengths are such that the energy is conserved.
The concept, then, is to pump the 2P-FOPA on both sides of the wavelength region to be amplified so that half the incoming telecom channels are amplified as the amplifier’s signal wavelengths, and the other channels are amplified as idler wavelengths (Figure 2).

Double data rate - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In computing, a computer bus operating with double data rate transfers data on both the rising and falling edges of the clock signal, effectively nearly doubling the data transmission rate without having to deal with the additional problems of timing skew that increasing the number of data lines would introduce.
This is also known as double pumped, dual-pumped, and double transition.
An alternative to double or quad pumping is to make the link self-clocking.

The fact that also the Address Generators run at double the frequency remains a bit puzzling since the 8 kByte L1 data cache runs at the normal frequency and won't accept anymore then 1 load and/or store address per cycle.

You can understand this special ALU by imagining that it is a sort of a double unit, with one that works with the falling edge, and one that works with the rising edge of the clockpulse.
Double-pumping allows very low latency integer operations to be completed at a rate higher than the processor clock frequency' and 'Integer ALU clocked at twice the frequency: Reduced latency increases the performance for certain integer operations'.
That seems to indicate that double pumping is essentially used to lower the latencies of the instructions, to compensate for the long pipeline.

With a double pumped bus the processor could send and receive a signal from the memory sub system twice a cycle.
DDR memory can transmit twice a cycle just like the double pumped bus on an Athlon processor, which means that using it with an Athlon processor creates an optimized situation just like you had before with the traditional system.
This essentially doubles the number of signals a second you can handle and doubles your bandwidth (volume of information that can be transferred at once).
