Doug dated girls sparingly and unsuccessfully in high school (Olympic High - Class of 1989), but by the age of 12, Doug knew that having a wife, three kids, and a white picket fence was not the life for which he was destined.
Doug also wrote a weekly column on gay and lesbian issues that was published on Mondays in the DTH during his senior year (1992-1993).
Doug's parents, Cullen and Gwen, are both career communicators (Cullen is a morning and noon anchor with WSOC-TV in Charlotte; Gwen is a communications consultant).

Ferguson Transformers was founded by Doug Ferguson who began manufacturing radio sets in a small factory in New South Wales, Australia, shortly after the end of 2nd World war.
The company grew and Doug realised that not only did each of his radio sets require a transformer but that there was a large general market for transformers and related products including fluorescent lighting ballasts, battery chargers and power supplies.
Following Doug Ferguson’s death in the early 80’s the company was sold to another Australian owned business which for some years continued manufacturing the complete range of products in a large factory at Liverpool in Western Sydney.

Starting early, Ferguson played music since he was 8, and in the late '80s he began acquiring analog synthesizers and using them to make his own original tapes.
Ferguson enlisted Castille and Eric Lumbleau of the Vas Deferens Organization to produce the first Ohm record, and that began a fruitful series of collaborations that resulted in some of the most wonderfully peculiar music to ever come out of North Texas (see discography).

Doug's final collaboration with VDO occurred around six months ago, when the final Yeti recording (“The Man With The Lamp,” due to be released on Portland's Beta-Lactam Ring Records as a split LP with Vas Deferens Organization material recorded by Matt and myself within a few months) was produced by Matt.
Doug was a genius and an inspiration, and the memory of his time with us as both a co-conspirator and friend will continue to inspire us (and indeed haunt us) to our dying days.
