WASHINGTON -- Concerns raised by Rep. Doug Ose could block a $2.6 million federal contribution to an effort in Sacramento County to protect a 4,000- acre tract of oak woodlands and grazing lands known as Deer Creek Hills.
Among the concerns of Ose, who became a wealthy land developer before his election to Congress in 1998, is that the county will lose property tax revenues at a time it can least afford it.
Ose said the isolated parcel of land is in no danger of being developed.
