Dr Douglas Ouster, transsexual plastic surgery FFS   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-30)
My name is Diane, I have Dr Douglas Ousterhout's permission to build a web site which will show the surgery, it will be showing actual facts about what is happening through the whole process of my operation and the healing times.
DR OUSTERHOUT: I met Dr Ousterhout today, he is a very nice man, he was charming and busy, I did not have an appointment but he was able to come to me and say hello and was ready to meet me on my appointed time on Tuesday 10th for my appointment.
MIRA: I also met Mira today the PA to Dr Ousterhout, she is lovely as well, I think she has a nice personality and helps so much, she does far more than I expected of her, she is very happy and smiley and again very reassuring of what I need to have.

 Lynn's Facial Feminization Surgery (FFS)
Back in the late 80's, Dr. Douglas Ousterhout came to understand that facial masculinization effects in male-to-female (MtF) transsexuals can be every bit as disfiguring and socially damaging to them as are the effects of severe facial disfigurement in accident victims and genetic facial deformities in children.
Ousterhout's work on transsexual women has grown very rapidly during the mid-to-late 90's as word about his remarkable transformations spread among them and among their case counsellors.
Many thanks to Douglas Ousterhout for understanding and caring about the masculinization facial disfigurement problems of transsexual women, for applying his creative and innovative capabilities to figure out how to solve those problems, and for applying his unmatched surgical skills to artistically feminize the faces of so many, many TS women.

Like most male children, Dr. Ousterhout is clearly fascinated with his toys and my head now bears some evidence he has probably used every one of them on me. I now carry around a fair number of titanium screws and other hardware that might otherwise have been used to build a small fighter jet.
Ousterhout’s assistant, took out the last of the stitches and all the staples that had been used to close the scalp incision.

Facial feminization surgery   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-30)
The surgical techniques come from soft tissue plastic surgery, maxillofacial surgery, and reconstructive surgery.
During the 1980s to 1990s, the field was pioneered by maxillofacial surgeon Douglas K. Ousterhout in U.S.A. Since 2000, it has also been developed independently by reconstructive surgeon Suporn Watanyusakul in Thailand.
Apart from these practitioners who perform surgery nearly exclusively upon transsexuals, it has also been taken upon by other maxillofacial and plastic surgeons as part of their practice, notably by Noorman van der Dussen in Antwerp, Belgium.

Douglas K. Ousterhout, M.D., D.D.S., clinical professor of surgery (plastic) at the University of California, San Francisco, and a former restless legs sufferer, says he relieved his symptoms simply by drinking wine.
Although Dr. Ousterhout initially thought that red wine did the trick, "I've since learned that white wine works just as well--although I can't think of any scientific explanation and have no idea why it works."

Rather than trusting his own judgment, Dr. Ousterhout simply uses math to approximate the correct surgical results.
Ousterhout's goal, then, is to bring the face more into conjunction with that "Golden Mean," which will leave it looking more feminine and more attractive.

 Tcl and Java Performance
(Ousterhout 97), John Ousterhout, now of Scriptics Corporation, argues that scripting -- the use of a high-level, untyped, interpreted language to "glue" together components written in a lower-level language -- provides greater reuse benefits that other reuse technologies.
It was developed at Sun Microsystems, and has been promoted a "better C++." Java is byte-compiled, although just-in-time compilers to native code can improve performance substantially (Kernighan and Van Wyk).
Tcl is an interpreted language that was originally developed by John Ousterhout, then of UC Berkeley.

The figures below show an example of the aggressive brow-bone reconstruction work often done by Dr. Ousterhout as just one part of the overall Facial Feminization Surgery (FFS) on transsexual patients.
These figures [from Aesthetic Contouring of the Craniofacial Skeleton, Douglas K. Ousterhout, Ed., 1991] show how a large section of forehead anterior to the sinuses can be removed, sectioned, recontoured and then wired back in place to feminize the forehead and browridge.
This is the "Forehead III" procedure, which Dr. Ousterhout performs on patients who have prominent browridges not thick enough in front of the sinuses to allow reduction by grinding alone.
