Office of the Comptroller - Audit   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-26)
We estimated that Douglaston Manor failed to report receipts from admissions, coat-check revenue, and certain food and beverage sales totaling $25,345 in April 2000 that were collected at its Wednesday and Friday dance events, and failed to report revenue totaling $22,315 received from certain banquets that were held during that month.
Interestingly, Douglaston Manor’s response to a prior Comptroller’s audit covering the period November 1, 1992 through October 31, 1995, indicated that banquet revenue was recognized and reported in accordance with the accrual basis of accounting.
Based on the fact that Douglaston has consistently paid to advertise these events and the large number of people in attendance and the volume of sales noted during the auditors’ observations in April 2000, we are at a loss to understand why DPR accepted Douglaston’s response and did not assess additional fees.
