On the reredos of Doulting church are six beautifully carved local stone figures, one of which depicts the patron saint apparently blessing a stream of water flowing from a cleft in the rock.
Doulting is also famous for Doulting stone, a crystalline limestone, grey when weathered, of which Wells Cathedral and Glastonbury Abbey were built.
Early in the 17th century Doulting was much in the news because of the remarkable cures being effected by a five-year-old child.
