In this connection, Defense Facilities Administration Agency officials made a formal request Friday to the Aomori prefectural and Tsugaru municipal governments to host the mobile X-band radar for an advanced early warning system against ballistic missiles, the report said.

ISTANBUL -(Dow Jones)- The Turkish Privatization Agency Friday said two groups -one led by Saudi Arabia's Oger Telecom and another headed by Emirates Telecommunications Corp. (ETISALAT.AD) -have made it through to the final round of bidding for a majority stake in Turk Telekom, Ihlas News Agency reported.
A consortium of Turkey's Koc Holding (KCHOL.IS) and Carlyle Group LP (CAY.XX) of the U.S., and a rival group led by a unit of Turkish wireless operator Turkcell Iletisim Hizmetleri AS (TKC) failed to make it through to the next round, the privatization agency said.
Turkish Privatization Agency President Metin Kilci said his administration will now conduct final talks with the two groups over the sale of a 55% stake in Turk Telekom.

According to a report by the US Dow Jones economic news agency, Iran's envoy to Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) Ali Kazempour has by phone proposed to US concerned officials that Iran can send urgently ten to twenty million barrels of crude oil to the United States, should the US sanctions against Iran permit.
According to the report, Kazempour added, "If the sanctions are lifted we can immediately send that quantity of oil to America." Dow Jones has not given any further details about Islamic Republic of Iran's help offer to US, put forth by Kazempour.

The problems delayed 2.5 mln automatic utility and credit card payment settlements and caused 60,000 customers to be double-billed, the news agency reported.

BEIJING January 1, 2004; Lena Lee writing for Dow Jones reported that- China expects to shorten to 48 hours the amount of time required to obtain registration for imported cars through a computer-based network that began operation Jan. 1, state media reported.Previously, the time required was one month, the official Xinhua News Agency said.
The network, which began trial operations in September, allows the customs department to deliver specific information on imported cars to the traffic control sector within 48 hours, the report said, citing sources from the Ministry of Public Security.
