While her opinions and pronouncements are all negative in nature, Debbie Downer is especially concerned with the epidemic of feline AIDS, which is, as she puts it, "the number one killer of domestic cats."
The first appearance of Debbie Downer was on May 1, 2004 with guest host Lindsay Lohan.
In future airings, the live Debbie Downer sketch was replaced by the dress rehearsal version, along with an opening title card explaining that the dress rehearsal "worked better." In dress, the cast all cracks up just as they did in the Lindsay Lohan episode.

She radiates energy as she leads the class from song to song, and it's clear she thoroughly enjoys playing the master of ceremonies for these small groups.

"Let us carry her colors boldly, the modest Blue and White," says the Lawrence Alma Mater, and a Milwaukee-Downer song says about that college: "your colors Blue and White, for [them] we'll fight and cheer." Strictly speaking, the current Lawrence University colors are navy blue and white, but you get the idea.
Beginning in 1914, Colors Day at Downer was the occasion for the transfer of a red, green, yellow, or purple banner to the incoming freshman class, a custom that continues today.
At the beginning of each academic year, the Lawrence University Alumni Association (in the person of the director of alumni relations) presents the new freshman class with its banner and its color.

But the Foreign Minister, Alexander Downer, who this week signed a declaration of intent to ratify the Association of South-East Asian Nations' Treaty of Amity and Co-operation, securing Australia its much-prized entry to the inaugural East Asia Summit in December, has taken the nation's friendship with Asia to another level.

The Government reversed its policy, however, when ASEAN foreign ministers said signing was mandatory for being invited to the East Asia Summit.
