Downpatrick (Dún Phádraig in Irish, meaning Fort of Patrick) is a town in County Down in Northern Ireland with 10,316 inhabitants in the 2001 Census.
Downpatrick is also the home of the Downpatrick and County Down Railway, which is the only Irish Standard Gauge heritage railway (i.e., it possesses its own line) in Ireland, and continues to run steam trains on restored tracks.
Downpatrick is classified as a Medium Town by the NI Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA) (ie with population between 10,000 and 18,000 people).

The Downpatrick and Co Down Railway is a heritage railway in County Down, Northern Ireland.
The project is based at Downpatrick, on part of the former route of the Belfast and County Down Railway.
The railway began life as the Downpatrick and Ardglass Railway, as the original intention was to extend the railway to this fishing port on the south coast of County Down.

The relics of the three saints were discovered in 1185, and on 9 June of the following year were solemnly translated to a suitable resting place in Downpatrick Cathedral, in presence of Cardinal Vivian, fifteen bishops, and numerous abbots and ecclesiastics.

The Downpatrick team did counterattack frequently but a great save from Kilkeel keeper Domnic Trainor and some confident defending from Kieran O'Hare Stephen Rafferty and Ronan Sloan frustrated the Downpatrick attack.
