A big banner on Newark Avenue advertises the Jersey City Downtown website, but upon examination it turns out to be a rudimentary site thrown together by a coalition of neighborhood businesses.
The Jersey City Reporter displays the usual newsy, uniform front -- this is great if you want to know who won the local assembly races (and I do), not so hot if you want to head out on the town.
Unfortunately, now that the Jersey City Studio Tour is over, most of the happenings mentioned are taking place in New York.

Exchange Place was also affected by the demolition of manufacturing plants in the downtown section of the city.
However, the potential for rapid transportation service in one of the most densely populated areas of the northeast could not be ignored.  The PATH purchased the Tubes at Exchange Place and renovated the railway service that serves commuters between New Jersey and New York City.
The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection's Division of Fish and Wildlife approved the state's first wildlife webcam, set up on the building with a grant from the Verizon Foundation, to observe the peregrines and their care for the three chicks that were hatched in the May of that year.

Englewood, NJ officials have announced plans to develop an innovative city office enterprise zone between I-95 and Route 4, which will significantly increase tax ratables and reduce homeowners' share of property taxes by at least 10 percent.
In conjunction with this, city officials also announced that Englewood is applying for a $500,000 no-interest state loan to help finance the anticipated development of a more than 55,000 square-foot building that could include retail, office and residential space on West Palisade Avenue.
Speaking at a City Hall press conference, officials said the city will designate a 150-acre site as the Englewood Office Enterprise Zone and seek both federal and state approval and funds to build new exits leading from 1-95 and Route 4 directly into the area.
