		Drums have a somewhat dampened and downtuned sound and are very closely integrated with the dynamics of the guitar and vocals making for a crushing wall of sonic fury that vigorously entrances the listener.
		One thing that vividly sticks out is that the band isn't afraid to experiment, there's tribal percussion elements at play, turntables make guest appearances on a few tracks, all while the songs proceed forward constantly moving and displaying a rather wide avenue of variety.

		So, I'm still curious as to why they downtuned, but I'm beginning to think it was simply to save their voices.
		It doesn't explain why they tuned "up" to standard pitch for the Miami Beach show, but perhaps they were more relaxed there and felt like singing the higher notes.

		There’s no real point to the album other than deliver stout, downtuned grooving death metal, the way it was done in 1992.
		The Stockholm/Sunlight sound has been further downtuned to the point of ridiculousness, but its ‘buzz saw in a cave’ effect is smile inducing and at the same time, capable of loosening fillings.

		You just have to adjust the bridge so it raises the strings up a little higher so they don't touch the fret markers when you're downtuned low..
		I have my truss rod and bridge adjusted so it's perfect downtuned 2 steps (that's where I usually am) So when i'm tuned to concert pitch my truss rod is all farged up and the action is so high it's like a jacked up chevy truck..

		Got this as part of the double disc with Mortification's "Scrolls of the Megilloth." Like Scrolls, "False" is heavy downtuned death metal with low gutteral vocals.
		Since the vocals are not understandable, and no lyrics were included in this promotional cd, I have no clue what the lyrics are about, although I have a feeling from the band name and song titles, that they are typical of this scene.

	How it Ends- Reviews
		Only eccentuating the downtuned, gritty heaviness is a rich, but not overproduced recording quality, and some really grim lyrics.
		How It Ends' musical formula is nothing out of the ordinary; the guitars are chunky, heavily distorted, and sound like they're downtuned to drop Q, the drum parts are mid-paced, driving, and packed with pummeling double bass kicks, and the thunderous bass parts create a solid backbone.
		The vocals, too, don't offer anything incredibly original, but are solid and fitting, nonetheless.

		Opening song ‘Skull tortured’ is my favorite, and the other songs follow in descending order, as I’m of the opinion that the lack of variation and the the slightly muffled production result in the fact that it’s not easy to stay focused for the full album.
		This is indeed very sick, downtuned us-style deathmetal, but also suffers from the boundaries inherit to the genre.
		Yet, this may seem as if I actually had a hard time listening, but the opposite is ofcourse the case, for I had and have a good time listening this stuff, but it just has some minor flaws.

	Dark Poetry - Satan Stole My Teddybear
		The songs go from high-speed fl metal riffing to open-string ambient noise a la Tool to downtuned Pantera bludgeoning and back within one song.
		The singer sings a little, threatens a bit, and grumble-grunt-scream-screeches a lot, which makes me wish the band had spent more time on the vocals (melodies and technique) to bring them to the level of the instrumentalists.
		The drums and vocals are very dry and a bit muffled, but the downtuned guitars are on a par with Machine Head and far better than the best Sepultura (and a great many fl metal albums currently released by real labels).

		CD Downtuned guitars, blasting drums, satanic leanings (supposedly serious, but then I know many serious Christians and they're not very angelic), and it's not fl metal either.
		The guitars are too downtuned for my liking too, making riffs a bit hard to distinguish, but luckily the bass fills out a lot of the sound.
		The production is, as I've already said, muted, but it does a fine job of giving each of the instruments room, and also creates a brooding atmosphere to the recording.

		Knocked out a mere year after the release of 2001's Uncivilization (one of that year's many records buried by its September 11 release date), New York's long-in-the-tooth hardcore vets bound back with this short, bleak, downtuned, downright feral slab of sludge.
		Even the fast songs seem caked in an oil-thick production, and guitars are almost ludicrously downtuned, Billy Graziadei and Evan Seinfeld's vocals sounding like they were recorded on a cassette deck with low batteries.
		It's a welcome change from the desperate parade of guest stars and the goofy, comic vibe of some of the shit on Uncivilization (I'm still surprised none of that album's songs ended up as WWE entrance themes) - but there seems to be a bit of an identity crisis going on here.

		Some of my favorite tunes are the slower melodic ones, but there are a lot of great downtuned sluggers as well.
		Appended to the end of Jesu is a hidden track which has a slow, plondering and melodic sound to it and is another song I really enjoy.
		Generally, Hymns has a more dancier feeling to it which is coupled with the crushing rhythms and downtuned sound reminiscent of the Streetcleaner days.

		The vocals on here are very similar to Bart Bouwman's (LDoH) and fit the dirty, basic sound of the music very well.
		The guitars are, like Gut, downtuned and flow smoothly with the bass and vox, also being low.
		Also fitting in with these elements, there is a lot of groove in their songs, which gets annoying some times, but does help define their sound.
