Irish soccer Doyle delight on Cork farewell eircom League Premier Division
John O’Flynn, who will return to the Cork attack in the wake of Doyles imminent departure, was introduced for the final quarter, and the Cork management team and supporters will hope he can fill the void as Cork try to put together their first title-winning season since 1993.
Doyles brace on the night sent him to the top of the eircom League Premier Division scorers’ charts on seven, but after a standing ovation greeted his substitution on Monday night, it appears he has scored his last goal in a Cork shirt.
Doyle opened the scoring from a George O’Callaghan tee-up on 30 minutes, and made it 2-0 moments before half-time, turning to fire the ball home after controlling an O’Callaghan corner kick inside the area.

With ten minutes remaining Paddy Wilson gave Courtwood the lead to the delight of their huge following but it was their inability to build on this lead that allowed Mountmellick back into the game.

 Filmtracks: Great Expectations (Patrick Doyle)
Great Expectations: (Patrick Doyle) Doyle had fallen ill around the time he composed this score; to the delight of all sore fans, he has recovered well to continue his career.
Considering the massive failure of the film itself --a film that has very little of a true heart-- Patrick Doyle's music easily stands alone with an emotional heart of its own.
In the meantime, Great Expectations is by far my favorite of his scores to date.

Amazon.com: Books: Exploits of Sherlock Holmes
And there are no attempts to link Holmes to fabulous ripped-from-the-headlines figures like Dracula or Jack the Ripper -- these are perfectly ordinary cases of the kind in which Holmes himself was known to delight for their own sake owing to their touch of the _outre_ and the singular features they presented to the reasoner.
Adrian Conan Doyle (with or without John Dickson Carr) tells a straight no-frills tale very much in the spirit of the Sherlockian canon; Holmes doesn't wind up getting married, Watson doesn't turn out to be the real Holmes, et cetera, et cetera.
If you are new to Sherlock Holmes, get the real canonical stories from Arthur Doyle instead.

The clever "Adventure of the Noble Husband" by Peter Cannon, who once teamed Holmes with H. Lovecraft, brings Holmes face to face with Arthur Conan Doyle is a very satisfying exploration of the complicated relationship Doyle had with his future second wife, Jean Leckie.
What caught my eye in the list of short stories was the title "The Secret Marrige of Sherlock Holmes" which turned out to be a good story even if it was lacking in romance.

Publisher description for Library of Congress control number 2001281320
In Doyle's original stories, Professor Moriarty is the bete noire of Sherlock Holmes, who deems the professor his mental equivalent and ethical opposite, declares him "the Napoleon of Crime, " and wrestles him seemingly to their mutual deaths at Reichenbach Falls.
Brilliantly and vividly evoking late Victorian England in all its facets, this first-ever omnibus of the adventures of Proefssor James Moriarty will delight longtime fans as well as readers new to the milieu.
But indeed there are two sides to every story, and while Moriarty may not always tread strictly on the side of the law, he is also, in these novels, not quite about the person that Holmes and Watson made him out to be.

As a playwright Rostand had an intimate knowledge of the theatre and “was a master craftsman, with a high degree of theatrical intelligence, with scenic sense, with a delight in solving technical difficulties” (Thomas Doyle and David Hoffman, Ed., Romeo and Juliet and Cyrano de Bergerac, trans.
Rostand was successful in recreating the life and atmosphere of an age, that of Louis XIII and Cardinal Richelieu and the early years of Louis XIV and Cardinal Mazarin.
It is a comedy where tragedy is much present and where death intrudes: Cyrano is killed by an enemy, Christian commits a form of suicide by throwing himself into the fore of the battle to die, and Roxane symbolically dies as she casts aside love and society for voluntary confinement in a convent (Premsela, 68).
