I know caiman lizards are specialized snail eaters, but I hear they can be switched over to other food items in captivity.
As for the caiman lizards he knows a few people who have worked with them.
There are suppose to be 2 species of the caiman lizards, one is "rough" scaled and bumpy and the other is said to be smooth and of dull color, or otherway around.

We captured a small juvenile that was not large enough to fit with a transponder and we saw an adult male swimming across a channel.

Small palms and hibiscus do well with humidity and a pothos is almost impossible to kill.
Also dracaena, commonly known as corn plants do well and are an neat looking addition.
Just make sure they aren't toxic to reptiles.

Cayman is also an alternate spelling for caimen, which is “any of several tropical American crocodilians of the genus Caiman and allied genera: some are endangered” (www.FactMonster.com).
There is also the caimen lizard, “a crocodilelike lizard, Dracaena guianensis, of South America, having powerful jaws for crushing the snails and mussels upon which it feeds”.
I couldn't find where the word Caymen or caimen came from, sorry.
