  Castlevania 3: Dracula's Curse Review
Many of the sound effects were taken from previous Castlevania games, but some are new, such as the groans of the boss monsters when they're defeated, and Dracula's evil laugh on the password screen.
Castlevania 3 also earns some brownie points with me for having an opening sequence with a film-reel that explains the game's backstory, and some of the dialogue is kind of cheesy, such as, "Dracula wanted to create a bad world filled with evil."
Castlevania 3 is a challenging, fun, and long-lasting game that has tons of replay value.

Dracula (Castlevania)   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-12)
The Dracula of Castlevania is loosely based on Bram Stoker's character, which was in turn based on the infamous Vlad Ţepeş of Wallachia.
The Castlevania Dracula draws some history from both, but instead of preying on maidens this one threatens whole realms with his armies at the least, and at worst is presented as the very embodiment of evil.
Dracula did not receive much characterization aside from being a generic evil vampire in the earlier games of the Castlevania series, but in later games he is depicted as arrogant, disdainful of humanity (whom he regards as petty and greedy), and somewhat abusive towards his own minions.

The third game in line took the classic gameplay that earlier Castlevania titles were known for and refined it into a masterpiece that is still a blast to play today.
Castlevania III introduced many new elements such as branching level paths and multiple characters that helped it stand well above the competition it had at the time.
The playable characters include a traditional Castlevania whip-bearer, a mage, an agile pirate who can cling to walls, as well as the fan-favorite, Alucard, who would later star in his own Castlevania game.

The Castlevania franchise has got to be one of the longest-running properties in videogame history.
Only this time around, the franchise is making several twisted changes to the tried-and-true Castlevania gameplay, and also plans to reveal exactly how the whole struggle between Dracula and the Belmonts came about in the first place.
Set in the 11th Century (when Dracula becomes a vampire), Lament follows the story of one Leon Belmont, a warrior trained in the sword to serve a local baron.

Much like the original Castlevania, however, it is rather difficult, although balanced a bit better.
Some segments are just poorly thought out (like a section in an underground level where you must wait for bricks to fall for several minutes so you can climb them) and the enemies become too powerful a bit too quickly.

Demon Castle Dracula X: Rondo of Blood, considered by many Castlevania fans to be the "Holy Grail" of the series due to having been released solely on the Japanese PC Engine CD console, still easily sells for over a hundred dollars, as does the original Japanese version of the MSX installment, Vampire Killer.
Subsequent Castlevania games have followed this new style, with the replacement of the secondary weapons by complex magic systems in which spell components are collected from enemies or found in the castle.
Prior to the release of Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance, every game in the series was accepted as canon, with the original versions of certain games (such as the original Castlevania and Dracula X) usually accepted as the canonical interpretation of certain events.
