A dragline, considered as one of the world's biggest robots that can cost up to $100 million each is basically a 100-m tall walking crane used in surface coal mining.
Draglines scoop up overburden blasted by explosives, and typically swing it around in a 90 degree arc before dumping it and returning to the original position.
The swing cycle is the repetitive part of a dragline's excavation cycle during which the dragline swings from its dig site to a dump site and then returns back to its dig site.

Minimizing the Economic Unit Cost of Dragline-Truck-Shovel Operations at Yatagan-Eskihisar Open Pit Mine, Turkey - ...
Since the initial capital cost investment is high for draglines, it is difficult to justify mechanical modifications thereafter, and there is little scope for variation to the operating geometry to minimize cost.
In this case, the price of a dragline with such capacity was assumed to be $50 million, a major consideration in terms of the time value of the dollar.
The unit cost minimization study with respect to the dragline operation showed that the dragline was not efficient at a bench height of 20 m, resulting in a somewhat higher cost, making the 25 m bench height the better choice.

We have twice now demonstrated the feasibility of automating a full-scale production dragline, and developed a computer control system that has all the essential ‘skills’ of a dragline operator: disengaging from the bank, dumping and bucket recovery are performed consistently and well.
