The song was issued as the second single from Sisqó's Unleash the Dragon LP in February 2000, and was its second biggest hit.

In the show's second incarnation his partner was Bill Gannon (Harry Morgan) who would later become Col. Sherman Potter of M.A.S.H. In 1987 they made a movie of Dragnet, starring Dan Aykroyd as Joe Friday, Tom Hanks as his partner and with Harry Morgan appearing as Captain Bill Gannon.
Barton Yarborough died in 1951 of a heart attack, Ben Alexander died in 1969, Jack Webb in 1982 of a heart attack and George Fenneman in 1997 of emphysema.

Theme songs of shows I've never seen or heard of have no nostalgic value for me. I was born in 1979, so most of these shows were off the air long before I was around.
Gilligan's Island--This version of the theme song is the later version (which includes "the Professor and Mary Anne", instead of "all the rest").
This theme song is what got the show on the air...it helped explain the premise of the show, which many early reviewers didn't get.

Too often, TV Themes have been maligned or looked down upon by many, but as you'll see, some of the songs have the greatest composers of the modern era behind them, and are as cool and fantastic as any "real" song ever made.
It's really sweet song about a guy who had dreams to leave his the city, but his dreams led him back to be a teacher, where he could lead a classroom of 40 year old kids pretending to be high school students, with all the brown corduroy jackets you could wear.
How fitting that the theme song from a show "about nothing" seems to be nothing more than a string of sound effects rattled off with seeming effortlessness with a tune that seems to be throwaway nonsense, that become impossible to forget.

I don't think the theme songs of the shows currently on are as good as a lot of the older theme songs....
Plus I have to give credit to JJ Abrams (the producer), he was freaking out because he didn't have a theme song for it yet, and he really need one so he wrote that in about 5 minutes.
In the 50's and 60's, almost all of the shows had theme songs, and you heard them at the start of the show and, just as important, at the END of the show during the closing credits.

The title is a play on a sub-plot from the original movie [imdb.com] where the company dentist, nicknamed "Painless", is tricked into thinking that he is committing sucide by those wacky docs Hawkeye and Trapper John.
I think there was a second theme too, but was only used for some promotional stuff, that I liked even more.
Not only was the theme excellent the entire musical layout of the show was great (well until they fired John K and turned it into a debacle anyways).
