Their first appearance, on Saturday morning, was to announce the winners of the Con's annual film festival.
Not being regular convention guests, they were unaware until that very morning that a table with their names had been waiting for them since the Con's opening on Friday.
The Con overestimated interest in Mike and Kevin's panel, for example--only about half of the huge hall where they were scheduled was full.

Dragon Con - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Dragon Con (also Dragon*Con) is North America's second largest multigenre convention, held annually in Atlanta, Georgia.
In 1990, Dragon Con launched the Atlanta Comics Expo and the Georgia Fantasy Convention, both of which are now part of the annual multi-media popular arts event that crosses over into fantasy, horror, gaming, and comics, with broad ranges which extend from books, art, and film to computer animation, special effects, and music.
In 1998, Dragon Con established the Julie Award, in honor of Julius Schwartz, bestowed for universal achievement spanning multiple genres, selected each year by an esteemed panel of industry professionals.

Unfortunately we were sold out of the first and fourth GPF books before the con, but plenty of you picked up Books #2 and #3.
Dragon*Con is, by far, one of the best cons I've ever been to when it comes to costumes.
Shortly before the con, the panel was moved to a bigger venue (the International Ballroom in the Hyatt, where registration used to be held), and this was one smart move.

Sequential Tart: Dragon Con (vol III/iss 8/August 2000)
Dragon Con takes place in one of the hotter parts of the country, at one of the hotter times of the year, yet this doesn't stop many of the attendees from dressing up in ludicrously stifling latex, fake fur and such.
Even though Dragon is primarily a fantasy/gamers' con, I was disappointed to discover that most of the comics-related panels were down in the bowels of the convention venue, pretty much ensuring a small turnout.
One of the most entertaining parts of the con for me, however, was the Church of the Subgenius panel on Saturday evening.

It is a treat to meet some of the guests that express their gratitude for the support of their fans over the years, and are overwhelmed by the number of attendees at Dragon Con.
Then just a couple of weeks before Dragon Con, I picked up the Canon S1 IS, which is a digital camera with a 10X optical zoom with Image Stabilization.
The learning curve was a bit steeper on the S1, so many of my photos from Day 1 of Dragon Con 2004 turned out more grainy and blurry as I tried my best to keep my flash photography to a minimum in order to not irritate guests as much as possible.

While no Babylon 5 guests were in attendance, there were still quite a lot of guests from current or just off-the-air shows to lend a nice sense of relevancy to their presence, plus it's always nice to see guests from favored shows of yesteryear here as well.
That was the entertainment between contestants and the final judging and vote tabulation, and it was almost worth the price of admission to Dragon Con this year.

While I originally intended to do this "live" at the Con through the message boards, I failed to find a live and unencumbered Internet connection.
However, the absolute most funny story of the entire Con (for me, at least), was my encounter with Tracy Scoggins (Captain Lochley of Babylon 5).
Many of you may remember this strip from the Space Con story, where Fooker hands Nick Tracy Scoggins' "phone number" to throw him off the track from learning that Ki is interested in him.

The basics are: upwards of 22,000 (probably more like 28,000) geeks, gamers, goths and fanboys fill up the two giant downtown hotels that were built to hold the Olympics crowds, and spill over into 5 or 6 surrounding hotels as well.
Eric, who knew this fuckwad's name (my guess would be from previous years' filk sings and he may have intentionally declined to schedule him to perform this year, but that is purely my own speculation), did finally step in and shoo him away.
