Bruce Lee mania reached a new peak as a direct result, his re-released films immediately shooting into the top ten video charts at the time.
Dragon's noted descent into a sugar-coated fairy-tale TV movie wasn't all that surprising, what was surprising was why the makers felt it necessary to add such window dressing in the first place.
Bruce Lee's life was fertile enough to concoct an accurate and exciting script that would have worked well on-screen without any padding or parlour tricks.

Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story. A Hollywood Jesus Movie Review.
I find that Bruce Lee, how he is portrayed in the movie, is an Apostle of sorts...bringing to the world, a sense of beauty and purity of life.
Lee overtrained, kept late nights, overextended himself at work, spent 'time' with other women other than his wife (died in another woman's apartment of a brain edema), had recurring headaches from overtraining and overstraining, was not....I emphasize...was NOT a good role model for youth.

In the tragic aftermath of the death of Brandon Lee (Bruce Lee's son), this Universal Pictures movie (although it was made before the accident) seems like a gross capitalization.
It doesn't show Bruce Lee dying of a brain edema in the apartment of reputed mistress Betty Ting-Pei -- the latest take on his mysterious 1973 death.
It's doubly touching to experience Bruce Lee's fleeting life and, in the brief depictions of little son Brandon, to fatefully anticipate the tragedy to come.
