Official Dragonlance Movie Site | About Dragonlance
Dragonlance is a richly-detailed fantasy world of warriors, magic and dragons, designed by TSR Inc and now owned by Wizards of the Coast Inc.
The Dragonlance Chronicles sprang mainly from the storyline which had been developed for the series of gaming modules, however many of the characters' finer details emerged from the many roleplaying sessions undertaking by the Dragonlance development team.
Dragonlance has become a phenomenon in itself and there are now hundreds of novels, game materials, comics, and other stuff related to the world of Krynn.

  Personality Spotlight: Dragonlance Campaign Setting
Christopher: With so many talented writers involved in Dragonlance, each with his or her own vision of what Dragonlance was to them, there were some considerable contradictions that we needed to deal with.
In fact, Dragonlance is sort of a first in 3rd Edition because some of these organizations are either mandatory (i.e., Wizards of High Sorcery) or concepts that a player designs a character specifically for (in the case of the knighthoods).
Dragonlance is a labor of love, it always has been, and I know that I have loved working on the very setting that first introduced me to gaming.

Dragonlance - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Dragonlance is a large series of fantasy books, and a Dungeons and Dragons campaign setting.
The world of Dragonlance was the first fictional world to be professionally produced as a role-playing game world, with product tie-ins (novels, role-playing modules, figurines, etc.) prepared and manufactured when it was first released.
The original Dragonlance story is set over 300 years after the Cataclysm, an event in which the gods grew angered at man's arrogance and dropped a fiery mountain onto the nation of Istar, rearranging the face of the planet, called Krynn, and appeared to depart from the world.

Dragonlance Nexus: Recommended Dragonlance Reading List - Products
If you are new to the Dragonlance series, the sheer number of novels that have been published is overwhelming.
The Dragonlance saga spans over 9,000 years of Krynn's recorded history, and therefore it was most helpful to split the list by time period.
In the 1990s, the Dragonlance saga moved from the Fourth Age of the world into the Fifth Age of the world, due to some major events that occurred in the storyline, specifically in a novel titled Dragons of Summer Flame, which is set in 383 AC.

Dragonlance - Advanced Dungeons & Dragons (AD&D) - Krakow RPGs - For Sale
Dragonlance became a popular franchise (with scores of accessories and novels published to this day), encouraging TSR to explore other campaign concepts.
"Dragonlance Adventures, by Tracy Hickman and Margaret Weis, is 'the AD&D game source book for continuing adventures in the world of Krynn.' It was published in hardcover in 1987 (later followed by Darksword Adventures, Greyhawk Adventures, Forgotten Realms Adventures, and others) and has not been revised or reprinted since.
While it does have its own errors (the timeline, in particular, is considered erroneous), many fans feel it captured the essence and flavor of Dragonlance.

The Dragonlance novels were my favourite series of books when I was in high school.
At the point in the timeline when the story begins, it is widely believed that the gods had abandoned the people a few hundred years before, right after a great Cataclysm.
The characters are the strength of the Dragonlance novels, so I hope they write them as true to the books as possible.

When the Dragonlance setting was created more then 10 years ago by Weis and Hickman their main goal was to take the generic dungeon crawl out of D&D and make the adventures more epic.
The base of the Dragonlance book is the history of Krynn, and there is a lot of time and effort put into the book to give a very unique history for all the races and some classes—enough that any player or GM can use it to add flavor to their characters.
For example, the "dark" elves and dwarfs in Krynn aren't a different super evil race, instead they are people that have been banished from their respected family/clans and not allowed to return to their homeland.

So, I've compiled this timeline, including the important events of the Forgotten Realms (including Kara-tur, Zakhara, and Maztica), Dragonlance, and Greyhawk worlds.
For SJ I felt using the Olven Calender was appropriate (as the writer of the SJ netbook timelines felt) because 1)it is tangible evidence of elven influence and 2) I felt it appropriate considering Greyhawk's status as first AD&D game world.
