Drama Desk members will be encouraged throughout the year to see as many off-Broadway productions as possible so that Drama Desk voting will not mirror other awards.
At the end of the final Awards Committee meeting, the Chair shall see that a typed ballot reflecting the nominations put forward by the Committee shall be sent to all Active members.
Winners shall be announced to the public, and the Awards shall be presented at the annual Drama Desk Awards ceremony.

  O'Brien and 'Wife' win Drama Desk Awards | The San Diego Union-Tribune
Prestigious Drama Desk Awards for the 2003-04 season went to the La Jolla Playhouse-sprung "I Am My Own Wife" for outstanding play and to the Old Globe's Jack O'Brien for outstanding director of a play for his "Henry IV" last fall at Lincoln Center.
Its sole actor, UCSD graduate Jefferson Mays, took the Drama Desk award for outstanding solo performance at a Lincoln Center awards ceremony on Sunday, where the biggest winners were two musicals – "Wicked," with six awards, and Stephen Sondheim's 1991 "Assassins," with four.
Drama Desk voters are critics, editors and reporters from New York publications.

The Drama Desk maintained its tradition of acknowledging excellence in the theater by announcing special awards to: John Kander and Fred Ebb, Austin Pendleton, Transport Group and the National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene.
The Drama Desk was founded in 1949 to explore key issues in the theater and to bring critics and writers together in an organization to support the ongoing development of theater in New York.

The Drama Desk was founded to explore key issues of the theatre community.
The first award that Andrew Lloyd Webber received in American theatre was from the Drama Desk as "Most Promising Composer." Drama Desk was also the first awards show to recognize such talents as Edwards Albee, Wendy Wasserstein, George C. Scott, Stacy Keach, and Sada Thompson.
Last year's awards show was the biggest and most lavish in the history of the awards.
