When u are drawing a finger in a closed hand, imagine it translucid and draw very softly just the outline, BUT divide the finger in 3 kind of little sausages that are joined, this is usefull for 3/4 view, and even for a "palm view".
What i began to do was (beside the daily practice) begin drawing as many hands and in as many poses as I could, that way I got to draw a lot of hand in my daily sketches and I didn´t feel like "I´m LEARNING to draw" (something that always hurted my big fat pride).
Another tip (but you have to be real confident with this one) is to draw an animation of a hand, it helps a lot to understand how the hand moves.

It's packed with lots of drawings of hands from different perspectives and help with the rules of foreshortening.
The drawings themselves are very bold and may seem too strong for some, but I feel that they benefit from looking this way as it enhances the details of the bone and muscle structure which would naturally be softened by your own style if that is what you prefer.

I am trying to figure out how to draw hands as well, and just the idea of holding them up in a double pose, then sketching, then holding them up again gives me the willies.
Carol, what's wrong with a drawing that doesn't make sense to you, if I like to draw my hands and then adjust them, well I don't see the harm in it, and what if it is harder to draw, I really ended up having a lot of fun with drawing them that way so.
but they arent drawing what you at first started out to do..which is make sketches and studies of your hand.......not an interpretation of your hand...

With the upside down drawing, they had been instructed to move their eyes back and forth from the object to their paper, but today, I told them I wanted to up the game; I wanted them to spend more time looking at their hand than their paper.
I also wanted them to keep drawing while they were looking at their hand and just use their eyes to check back and see that they were on the right track.
No tracing your hand like a turkey and it works best if you make your hand into a claw or some other contorted position so that there will be lots of overlapping shapes.

Start off with a a ball for your the wrist, and the shape of the main section of your hand for the hand "base".
Now just erase all the lines you're not going to need such as the intersections in between the digits on the fingers, and the "ball" that creates the wrist.
These are just a few positions for hands that could easily be done, the cliche peace sign, and the yu-gi-oh or duel masters (whichever show about card-wielding children you prefer) ooh!

For drawing anime guys right out from my head, I have a problem with giving them slight muscle definition as well.
