BCHP, which includes private equity investors Hellman and Friedman and the Blackstone Group, met with Drax's owners last week in a bid to persuade them to accept its proposal, which included the option for existing investors to buy up to 40 percent of the shares in the new Drax group in lieu of cash.
Drax said earlier this week that it made a pretax profit of 26.1 million pounds in the nine months to end-September after a loss of 50.9 million pounds a year ago.

 Bloomberg.com: U.K.
Drax got takeover bids from International Power Plc and Goldman Sachs Group Inc. after the collapse two years ago of TXU Europe, it's largest customer.
The proposal would give bondholders and shareholders of plant owner Drax Group Ltd. ``a full-cash alternative to the current plans for a possible listing of Drax,'' Constellation and Perry said today in a statement.
Based on Drax's 2005 profit forecast, Constellation's bid is comparable to pending utility purchases in the U.S., he said.

Encyclopedia article on Space Shuttle program [EncycloZine]
One of the first fictional uses of the space shuttle was in the 1979 James Bond film, Moonraker in which a fleet of privately-produced shuttles was used to ferry personnel to a space station operated by the evil Sir Hugo Drax.
After the shuttle's launch, the craft played a role in a number of NASA-themed films such as SpaceCamp (in which a group of teenagers accidentally launch a shuttle into orbit) and a late-1990s series entitled The Cape which followed the lives of a group of fictional shuttle astronauts.
In the 1998 film "Armageddon" two modified Shuttles are launched on a mission to intercept an asteroid with modified footage of actual shuttle launches being used.
