An indifferent coach service replaced trains between Drayton Park and Finsbury Park at first, but when the Victoria Line opened in September 1968, it was abandoned, and anyone travelling between the two stations had to use it and double-back via Highbury!
In October 1964, the line was closed north of Drayton Park because its terminal platforms at Finsbury Park were needed to provide cross-platform interchange between the new Victoria Line, then being built, and the adjacent Piccadilly Line.
Train crashes, railway disasters and so on have always had a fascination for me. I suppose this is as a result of my interest in railways (which started with steam engines just after the war), but it is also because of the bizarre and often surreal effects they have on rolling stock and railway equipment.

 The East London Line And Great Northern And City Railway
This line was opened in February 1904 over a distance of three and a half miles from Findsbury Park (under the Great Northern Railway station) to Moorgate in the city of London.
The East London Railway opened their initial line from New Cross Gate station to Wapping on December 7th 1869, The steam hauled service was operated by the London, Brighton and South Coast Railway.
The service was cut back to run only as far as Drayton Park from 1964 as Findsbury Park was being rebuilt in connection with the construction of the Victoria Line.

 Cycle Ride Three
This ride was to be the longest and most ambitious so far attempted by us, and like all our circular rides we had to return to the car which we had parked at Reepham station as usual, anyway we were up for it so here we go.
of the platform is still there but only just visible, the cattle dock was completely covered in brambles, investigation impossible.A rough car park occupies the area where the station building and the station approach once were.
We left Reepham station at 10.10 am with the usual essentials on board and decided to cycle the short distance to Whitwell and Reepham station by road, where we then joined "The Marriott's Way".
