Psi-Phon and Dreadnaught next appeared on the outskirts of Smallville, Kansas, during a July 4th weekend, deter-mined to have their revenge on Kent.

 Dreadnaught CD Reviews
Australia's Dreadnaught debut appeared in late 1996 presenting a fresh blend of aggressive hard rock with dark melodic leanings.
The music fits in a more contemporary vein, but uncomfortably so; the band's self-description is "innovative and original psycho-grindcore." Dreadnaught's debut bristles with a fierce defiance of true categorization, as the songs are complex and unpredictable without sacrificing any enjoyment.
Dreadnaught are hard at work on their full length follow-up to this mini-CD.

The Dreadnaught has a somewhat unusual design for this sector of the power amplifier market - it is described by Theta as a "zero feedback, fully balanced differential" amplifier.
The Dreadnaught is no slouch when it comes to music either: 5.1 sources like Roy Orbison and Friends: Black and White Night, The Bee Gees: One Night Only, Peter Frampton: Live In Detroit or James Taylor Live at the Beacon Theatre sounded the best I have ever heard them.
I also experimented with the Dreadnaught's buss system, assigning left and right main channels to the stereo buss and the others to the surround buss, via the toggle switch on the rear of each channel module.

While one can imagine the Dreadnaught in configurations as simple as a stereo amplifier, or as complex as a ten-channel amplifier for multi-room usage, it is the five and seven-channel configurations that are of the most interest for HT.
With the Dreadnaught II there are controls to change the amplifier from “Operate” to “Standby”, and from “Stereo” to “Surround”.
It is hard to decide whether to call the Dreadnaught II a high-end audio amplifier that can be configured for multi-channel usage, or a multi-channel amplifier that has been designed using techniques typically reserved for high-end mono or stereo amplifiers.

 Product Review
The Theta Dreadnaught has been around to to the point that it is called "venerable", but this is the first time I have had one in our lab for extensive listening.
Using the new Denon DVM-4800 DVD Player, which has DVD-A output, I found the Dreadnaught could be as sweet with 24/96 five-channel symphonic music as it had been mean and nasty with intense action movies.
To summarize the sonic characteristics of the Dreadnaught, I would say it has a forward high end (not harsh, just obvious), a neutral mid-range, and a deep, tight bass (as opposed to a warm, tubby bass).

Secrets of Home Theater and High Fidelity - Projection Systems Theater PC Case
The Dreadnaught II is a “true” balanced design with the use of symmetrical mirror-imaged signal paths all the way from the balanced XLR input to the speaker output connectors.
The two amplifier setups in question, Acurus 200x3 and the 225 watts per channel of the Dreadnaught were of a similar power rating, and the distortion specifications of the Acurus are probably better than that of the Dreadnaught, but there was no doubt which sounded better with music and movie sound tracks.
Of course, it would have been even nicer if the Dreadnaught responded to 12V levels, not pulses, and I would have not had to go to the trouble I did to get this working reliably, but given the great sound with the Dreadnaught II, it was worth the effort.

Ultimate AV: Theta Dreadnaught II multichannel power amplifier
In fact, the Dreadnaught II's top end was the region I found most improved from the Dreadnaught I. The I had sounded a little dry; the II did not.
Nevertheless, I consider the Dreadnaught II to be a worthwhile improvement on its predecessor, which for two years was one of the top-rated amplifiers in our annual March/April "Recommended Components" issue.
But the new Dreadnaught has an answer for that, too: You can opt for the big amp modules for the front channels if you think you might need the added power, and the smaller, 2-channel modules for the surrounds—an arrangement I think most listeners would be more than happy with.

Detailed Review [Dreadnaught - 2005 - "Live at Mojo"] - ProgressoR
I haven't heard the first two Dreadnaught albums, but I am very well acquainted with the second phase of their output.
So I don't think it would be a fault if I approach to describing "Live at Mojo" as Dreadnaught's new material, without drawing parallels to their previous stuff.
Three of the songs aren't from Dreadnaught's repertoire, but since these, as well as most of the others of such, sound similar to the band's compositions, I won't specify whether the tracks are their own works or their variations on those by other performers.
