When a Donaldsonville, Louisiana radio station broadcast that the Dream Center church was to be a Red Cross evacuee center for Katrina,  people in this low income area of the state flocked to the site.
MAP visited the center and found that a network of churches had supplied much of what the evacuees needed.  Portions of MAP's initial relief shipments of nutritional supplements and other medical supplies aided evacuees at the site.
According to Jordan, the center has 14,000 patients on record and typically serves 3,000 a month.  Post-Katrina the numbers of patients served has risen to 300 – 400 patients a day.
