The study of the Dream is looked on as a continual process of learning, and the different areas of Weaving are refered to as Schools.
The use of any of the mind alteration skills are dangerous, because the Weaver must enter the subject's mind within the Dream and can become trapped or have portions of their own mind replaced by the subject's.
The School of the Senses alllows the Weaver to expand their senses in the world around them, including things which cannot normally be detected.

Located in the dynamic landscape of modern day Tokyo, it travels through Japan with a series of almost surreal encounters, including the god of thunder and John Lennon, whose song lends its title to the book.
Like Ghostwritten before it, it is a novel broken down into surreal sections, beginning with multiple openings, and ending with a missing dream.
Reality, in its many different forms, is a common theme with Mitchell, who studied literature at the University of Kent and did an MA in Comparative Literature.

The first few songs on the album are the most accessable ones, they are very much "songs" with a verse-chorus structure, and sweetened with string ensembles to the point that I sometimes think I'm listening to Gary Wright's Dream Weaver.
The songs are a bit on the long side for radio airplay, though the length doesn't cause them to have much more "meat" to their content.
The songs work well: underneath the white-knuckled performances and Martian textures, they seem to have a strong sense of harmonic direction, and this hidden clarity may have something to do with how their music communicates to general audiences.
