The Sandman: Dream Country - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Dream Country is the third graphic novel collection of the comic book series The Sandman, published by DC Comics.
This is a curious story concerning an inspirational cat with a vision of an alternate reality where cats are huge and humans merely their playthings, tiny servants which groom their bodies and which the cats can kill at their pleasure.
This is another odd issue, featuring one of the methods Gaiman played with in the first, and to a lesser extent in the second, collection: it takes one of the neglected characters from the DC Universe, this time Element Girl (Urania Blackwell, a female version of Metamorpho), and shows her in a completely unexpected situation.

William J. Clancey - You are conscious when you dream
The dreaming brain operates on different conceptual planes at once, relating them, but the person is only experiencing the sensory, visual, and emotional content of the dream story.
Dreams reveal why awake life appears meaningful and coherent--we create an ongoing story about what we are doing that fits what just happened a few minutes ago and what we plan to do next.
Dream interpretation, when we are awake, is a form of story-telling that higher-order consciousness allows, in which contradictions, identities, and self-conception in the dream are articulated and related.

'Dream' was born with the strap-line 'Re-imagining Church', expressing a desire to be creative and think outside the mainstream 'box', whilst holding on to the community of faith, the essential concept of 'church'.
Dream services typically included some led elements around a theme, that all people were invited to join in with, though not necessarily 'led' in the traditional churchy way.

Dream is about the journey of life as it has unfolded for thousands and thousands of years, generation after generation, and it's about the present reader living their particular life at this moment in time.
The refrain of "Dream a dream with me" is the star serving as a mentor, helping the reader learn about and understand life until, at the very end, the star, having fulfilled its role, turns it over to the reader with "dream a dream...
The story begins as any dream does, with enthusiasm and energy (pages 4-9); moves into planning and action (pages 10-13), hits the inevitable challenges along the way (pages 20-23); and then, with courage and perseverance, emerges into a sense of understanding and achievement (pages 24-27).

Story Myth Dream Drama by Helena Sheehan
Myths are paradigmatic stories, ie, stories that are told and retold as shedding light on other stories, as linking past and present, as bringing the unknown into relation with known.
Dreaming, whether it issues in madness and myopia or in art and myth or simply in everyday fantasy, tends to dramatisation.
Dreaming or imagining is often the dramatisation of consciousness itself, with internal conflicts being played out in various ways and experimentally resolved.

Nightmares - Definition, Description, Demographics, Causes and symptoms, Diagnosis, Treatment, Prognosis, Prevention
Dream researchers have observed a developmental progression in the content and frequency of children's nightmares.
Although infants spend most of their sleep time in the REM stage where dreams are known to occur, there is no reliable way to determine if dreaming actually takes place prior to the development of language and the reflective ability to think in images.
In a study of the dreams of four- to 12-year-old children published in the Journal of Clinical Child Psychology in 2000, researchers found that 67.7 percent of four to six year olds, 95.7 percent of seven to nine year olds, and 76.3 percent of ten to 12-year olds reported having had a nightmare experience.

He toys with the dismal daughter of a patient, an "unspoiled" prostitute, and a sophisticated matron--none of whom he actually claims, all of whom remind him of his wife, one of whom dies, he believes, in protecting him.
Uncertain if his adventure was reality or dream, he returns with tenderness to Albertine, although he has repeatedly vowed to leave her.
The editor, Raphael, contends that Dream Story is true to Schnitzler's personal life and times; he speculates that it was written well before 1918 and failed to find a publisher until 1926.

 How To Remember Your Dreams
And, in order to be able to recognize your dreams as dreams while they are happening, you have to be familiar with the way your own dreams work.
The first dream of the night is the shortest, perhaps 10 minutes in length, while after 8 hours of sleep, dream periods can be 45 minutes to an hour long.
It is generally accepted among sleep researchers that dreams are not recalled unless the sleeper awakens directly from the dream, rather than after going on to other stages of sleep.

In the short story, it is left up in the air as to the true nature of what he saw, with the strongest suggestion being that it was harmless debauchery of aristocrats.
One aspect of the short story that was not explored (and thankfully so) in the movie was the main character's obsessive longings after extremely young women (including the young daughter of the rental costume owner).
