  ::The Moths of Borneo::
The ecological and biogeographic representation of Bornean Drepanidae and Uraniidae
In both groups species of lowland forests predominate, though the Uraniidae have a slightly higher proportion of montane species (29% to 19%), and the Drepanidae have many species ranging from the lowlands to montane zones (23%).
In a comparison of four forest types in Peninsular Malaysia with various degrees of disturbance or management, only uraniids were represented in any numbers, and then in the forest types (associations D and E) that approximated most closely to a natural state (Intachat, Holloway and Speight, 1997).

Relatively little is known about the phylogeny of this family, since most phylogenetic research is concentrated on the genus level.
In the present study we investigate the phylogenetic relationships between the subfamilies within Geometridae and between Geometridae and Drepanidae, using sequence data from three gene fragments: The ND1 mitochondrial gene, the first expansion segment and the second expansion segment of the 28S ribosomal RNA gene.
The Archiearinae and Geometrinae (represented by one species per group in the present study) are basal to the Ennominae.

Eleven families (Arctiidae, Brahmaeidae, Drepanidae, Eupterotidae, Lasiocampidae, Lymantriidae, Mirinidae, Noctuidae, Notodontidae, Saturniidae, Sphingidae) have been treated so far.
The Noctuidae type-list is still incomplete, due to extreme richness of type specimens.
