Dresden is internationally known for the controversial firebombing of the city by Allied air forces during World War II.
Dresden is located at 51°03′ N 13°45′ E, in the southeastern corner of eastern Germany; about two hours south of Germany's capital, Berlin, and about two hours north of Prague, capital of the Czech Republic.
Dresden was not the only German city devastated by World War II bombing, but the bombing of Dresden in 1945 has become one of the most controversial events of that war.

One important member was Gottfried Semper, building the Dresden Semper Oper with the panther - quadriga by Johannes Schilling.

Although school officials have made strides in the two years since an earlier proposal fell through, Lyme officials want to know how much their town's taxpayers would have to pay toward high school renovation, a figure that won't be set until January at the earliest.
Two years ago, Dresden officials wanted Lyme to pay 8 percent of the gross cost of what was then a $38 million construction plan, and didn't want to guarantee spaces for Lyme students until after the high school renovation was finished.
Fourteen Lyme students entered the school as freshmen in September, but a large seventh-grade class this year means that 22 students are expected to enroll in 2004.

Dresden residents will vote in an April 8 referendum to choose which one of four school systems students beyond fifth grade are to attend when the contract with the Hall-Dale system expires.
School committee Chairman Nadine Barnard told the board that the committee had promised the Hall-Dale system that it would have an answer by the end of March and that the committee wants to go ahead with having a public vote on the issue.
Dresden made a 10-year contract with the Hall-Dale system six years ago and promised to give the system notice at the six-year point on whether it will renew its contract.
