Irish Drinking Song - Whose Line Wiki
The structure of the song consisted of four verses of eight lines each, with each performer contributing two of them (the first and fifth lines, for example).
One Drinking Song degenerated into complete chaos when Drew mumbled most of his line, forcing Ryan to rhyme it in gibberish.
This game resulted in one of the rare occasions that a cast member was the subject of a song, with one song being performed about Drew himself and generally featuring positive comments from the cast.

Drinking song - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Many of the drinking songs are undocumented because of the bawdy nature of the material though a large number of these songs have been compiled by Hash House Harriers, a drinking club with a running problem, and are found in Flying Booger's Hash Hymnal.
Most of drinking songs are folksongs and show variation from person to person and region to region in both the words and in the tunes used for the song.
Although singing songs from Fredmans Epistlar is less usual, Carl Michael Bellman's influence on the Swedish customary preoccupation with the drinking song is considerable.

To Anacreon in Heaven - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In all probability some drinking did occur at Society meetings, but the primary purpose of the Society (and its song) was to promote an interest in music.
This, however, did not keep the song from being associated with alcohol, as it was commonly used as a sobriety test: If you could sing a stanza of the notoriously difficult melody and stay on key, you were sober enough for another round.
The song, through its bawdy and imbibing lyrics, gained popularity in London and elsewhere beyond the Anacreontic Society, and new lyrics were also fashioned for it, including, in the United States, under such patriotic titles as "Adams and Liberty" and "Jefferson and Liberty."

The Straight Dope: Was the melody of "The Star Spangled Banner" taken from an old drinking song?
The original tune was "To Anacreon in Heaven," an English drinking song written by John Stafford Smith with words by Ralph Tomlinson, Esq.
You'd expect a drinking song to be pretty raucous, and by comparison to the national anthem I suppose "Anacreon" is. But it's no "99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall." Here's the full unexpurgated text, dug out by my able assistant SDSTAFF Songbird, who provided much of the information that follows as well:
The song was designated the U.S. national anthem by executive order of President Woodrow Wilson in 1916.

Jack’s Pipe » Luther and the drinking song myth
One thing you hear, usually from supporters of contemporary worship, is that Luther adapted tavern songs for use in the church.
Promoters of new worship love to quote Luther as saying, ‘Why should the devil have all the good tunes?’ What they do not tell their hearers is that Luther was talking about Catholic church music, not tavern songs.
It was the world of those days that stole from the church to obtain a melody line for a bawdy bar song, but not the other way round.

 Hymnology: Luther; Drinking Song
The idea that Luther adapted his tune from a drinking song is probably from a misunderstanding of the tune in "bar form." It is easy to see here that "bar" is a technical term, because it is precisely the same word in German.
Despite the analyses of musicologists, one could still claim that Martin Luther "knew a good tune when he heard it," and adapted it for his own purposes.
To think that Luther adapted a drinking song for "A Mighty Fortress," however, goes completely against the practice of the Reformer.

University of California Marching Band ~ Cal Songs ~ Bowles Hall Drinking Song
Eventually the football team moved out of Bowles Hall, but the Cal Band would still occasionally stop in front of the dorm after a game and play for the Bowlesmen.
One day, as legend has it, the Band refused to play "By" as they marched passed Bowles Hall, so the Bowlesmen ran in front of the Band and laid upon the ground to stop the Band from moving forward and to "encourage" them to play their drinking song.
A less mythic story from the 1970's claims that Bowles Hall convinced the University that the Band was "duty-bound" to perform for them after every game (back in the days when the Band received sizable income from the University).
