Stations do not have subway maps covering the entire network, but only panels containing the names of the stations on the current line, or even worse, a selected number of stations from the respective line.
The Bucharest Metro ( Metroul Bucureşti in Romanian) is an underground urban railway network that serves the capital of Romania, Bucharest.
On the official network map, they are shown as two stations with a connection in between, even though, in practice (and in trip planners), they are really only one station with platforms at different levels.

In most other stations though they still have the old system, which means that for a Personal train you get a small easy-to-lose ticket, for the other trains you get at least 2 small such tickets, one of which is the P train ticket and the other being the supplement and the seat reservation.
If the clerk in the station is kind enough though, he/she has the possibility of calling for some "spare" seats to other stations, but most times they will not go out of their way to do so for you.
Despite its bad reputation, the station is safe for those, which are well awake and keep an eye on their stuff, avoiding to spend more time than needed there.

Bucharest - Arrival - Hotel Near
A few trains, mostly locals, terminate at the Gara Basarab (700m northwest of the main station, or one metro stop towards Republica), Gara Obor, northeast of the centre (trolley buses #69 and #85) and Gara Progresu, on the southern outskirts (bus #116).
Both of the city's airports are on the main road north of the city and are linked by express bus with the city centre; the train station is a little way out of the centre to the northwest, but is on the city's metro system.
There are six bus stations in the city, all in the suburbs and mainly serving the local villages, so its unlikely that you'll arrive at any of them, but there are private bus services to major destinations throughout the country, which come and go from Calea Grivitei, opposite the train station.

Take metro destination "Dristor 2" for one stop (Piatza Victoriei 2) and get off.
As far as I could see (I am not a fan of cafes in railway stations, wherever they might be), the cafe just next to the Spring Time (something with a red commercial, don't remember its name) is the nicest but still none that I would heartly recommend.
Right in the railway station you will reach (Bucuresti Nord that is), there are a few cafes and a quite good fast-food (Spring Time).

The "talcioc" you mention could be Vitan - Barzesti Flea-Market, located to the East of Mihai Bravu Metro Station.
The location of the flea market has changed lightly lately because of various decisions of the City Hall and its bad fame, but it goes on one of the streets in the same area anyway.
Obor is a 7/7 market, open all week long.
