Passed from hand to hand, or hard drive to hard drive rather, this cover of the Arcade Fire's "No Cars Go" was given to me by a good friend, after which I spent damn near the entirety of a 3 hour drive home listening to it on repeat.
Whether it was the song or the mood, I do not know, but I do know that this song fucking killed me for days and days.

In following the news reports from the practices leading up to the qualifying time trials, which by the way were initially rained out, it appears that the new aero configuration on the cars this season aren't adapting too well to the flat 2.5 mile track.

Review: The World Is Not Enough
There are plenty of bangs, flashes, and chase sequences (on foot, on skis, and in the water), plus the usual array of beautiful women with skimpy outfits and funny names, science fiction-inspired gadgets (cars that drive themselves, x-ray glasses, a jacket that inflates into a survival bubble), and exotic locales (Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Istanbul).
For The World Is Not Enough, as for the previous two endeavors with Brosnan, the answer is "yes." There's nothing special, shocking, or precedent-setting about the film, but it functions on a level that 007 fans will appreciate - as eye and ear candy for those who prefer action to exposition and character development.
Following The World Is Not Enough, Brosnan is committed to one more Bond film, after which he will probably leave the franchise.

The Sports Gaming Network - Test Drive 6 (DC) Review
Test Drive 6 opens with a nicely done intro, accompanied by that Gary Numan opus from the 80's, "Cars." It is a neat way to start Test Drive 6, and it appears as though the song has been either re-recorded or remixed to give it some extra oomph.
Racing games have always been a staple of the home video game industry, and the Test Drive series has been a part of the industry almost from the beginning of the home video game revolution.
I have played a slew of Dreamcast games, and Test Drive 6 is by far the most disappointing, given its pedigree.

Music Review: Meshell Ndegeocello: Revolutionary Soul Singa
Ndegeocello (ok you can say it out loud: "N-day-gay-o-cello") uses the song to highlight the bankruptcy of symbolic campaigns to recognize "great Black men" and the ungrateful attitudes of the hip-hop generation ("while we campaign for every dead nigga blvd/so young motherfuckers can drive down it in your fancy cars.").
The song highlights Ndegeocello's more traditional jazz sensibilities, but clocking in at only 4:27 is both the disc's most accomplished musical statement and the most disappointing because it will leave listeners yearning.
Meshell Ndegeocello's debut was not some pretty thang like Maya Angelou's (courtesy of Paul Lawrence Dunbar and Abbey Lincoln) I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, which, for its era, metaphorically captured the bankruptcy of singing and marching in the face of American imperialism.

MDC had two cuts, a song entitled "Bombs, Not Food" and "Nazis Shouldn't Drive (Cars)", the latter of which is a different kind of ode to the late singer of Skrewdriver, Ian Stuart and a really good song.
In 1981, MDC (then still known as the Stains) released what should be considered a legendary punk landmark single on 45, "John Wayne Was a Nazi" paired with "Born to Die." At this point, the band was slower and less polished than they would become later as MDC.

village voice > film > Greendale by J. Hoberman
Young's characters drive big old American cars through a Northwestern landscape all the more sad and lovely for being filtered through a soft fog of grain.
Greendale opens in rural America with Grandpa Green (Ben Keith) sitting on the porch reading about government snoopery, then mouthing a "song for freedom." Inside, granddaughter Sun (Sarah White) watches disasters on TV, then dances around in her room, imagining the summer of love.
Here, he appears only fleetingly, with his recent song cycle—part topical protest, part garage-rock cantata—lip-synched by the cast in lieu of dialogue.

The reason was quite simple; the conventional drivetrain was less complicated and yet more robust than those of the 4WD cars.
The Celica Twincam Turbo, like other monsters, fell victim to this decision and sang the solemn song of the swan at Olympus Rally in December.
Even though it was equipped with a conventional drivetrain layout, the Celica Twincam Turbo was an excellent match and sometimes overshadowed its quad drive rivals, especially in the African events.

Lawrence Biemiller's Stories from 'The Chronicle': New York Subways
New York, New York -- Astor Place, Spring Street, Canal Street, Brooklyn Bridge -- the downtown stations of the Lexington Avenue local are a poem in their own right, a song of the New York Walt Whitman knew, of sailing ships and gaslights, horse cars and tenements.
Hood says as we arrive at 59th Street, is that when the city built the IND, it "built large and planned for expansion, but the people never came." IND stations feature wide platforms and spacious mezzanines, but already commuters were beginning to drive to work.
Hood is a fan in the larger sense -- in the sense of delighting in New York's love-hate relationship with the A train, the winding route of the Brooklyn-Queens Crosstown, the elevated stations of the 7 to Flushing.
