Powertrain - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In a vehicle, the term drivetrain or powertrain refers to the group of components that generate power and deliver it to the road surface, water, or air.
A vehicle's driveline consists of the parts of the drivetrain excluding the engine and transmission.
It is the portion of a vehicle, after the transmission, that changes depending on whether a vehicle is front wheel drive, four wheel drive, or rear wheel drive.

So when the group went in to record Drivetrain (July 27, Sanctuary Records), its first full studio album in years, it sought to capture that live energy on disc.
The often-bombastic blues-rock tracks compiling Drivetrain owe their rawness to a more natural production approach favored by Barnes and fellow guitarist/vocalist Danny Chauncey, who produced the disc together.
Drivetrain's southern-rock-tinged, sometimes big chorus-laden tracks which were penned with longtime songwriting partner Jim Peterik politics, hope, love and rampant passion.

eBay Guides - How to Choose a Drivetrain System
Which drivetrain system is best for you depends on what type of conditions you'll be driving in and how much you want to pay.
Adding confusion is the fact that automakers often give their drivetrain systems names that make it hard to tell what type a particular vehicle has.
Available on various SUVs, this type of full-time drivetrain system lets the vehicle operate in 2WD (either front or rear, depending on the model) until the system judges that 4WD or AWD is needed.

As such, the main task of the Man06 drivetrain team is to use the lessons learned from the Man05 to investigate lighter solutions for all of the major drivetrain components.
Weight optimisation is a key theme throughout the drivetrain design - the 520 chain is perfect for use in an Formula Student car and is 32% lighter per unit length than the thicker 530 chain used on the older car.
The couplings used in the Man06 drivetrain are 4 flexible composite discs manufactured by GKN and are much better suited to the car.

Because the development of the GA16DE engine is lagging behind that of the SR20, not much has been done in the way of drivetrain development either as there has not been a pressing need for it yet.
The choices for good GA parts is few here but I am writing this as a general guide to drivetrain/clutch technology and terminology so when the curve does catch up (and it should soon) this can be an educational reference.

The drivetrain lift is a fairly complex project and isn't for those unfamiliar with the Toyota drivetrain.

As a result of the drivetrain lift, the underbelly of the truck is much smoother than stock and I haven't dragged the transfer case crossmember since.

The result is poor fuel economy and decreased power as the engine is not operating in its most efficient rev range and cannot get usable power to the ground.
Additionally drivetrain stress is greatly increased as the larger diameter tyres take more torque to move the vehicle forward.
With regearing torque multiplication is increased in the differential reducing drive train stress and resulting, in improved power, economy, on and off road performance.

Although the stock clutch usually holds up fine on a stock motor or even a built motor up to about 150 wheel hp, abusive drag race starts or slam shifting usually makes quick work of it.

A naturally aspirated 428 will produce far less torque at 650HP than a supercharged one therefore you will need to do some $major$ drivetrain upgrades.
There are many people putting that kind or torque to a 9" rear end but its not close to being stock.
If you want to spend upwards of $15,000+ on your drivetrain it could be done but there is no way you are going to get 650HP to the ground without doing some major suspension work and replacing the street slicks every oil change.

 Drivetrain Layout
There are two major characteristics of a drivetrain that impacts the performance of a car: the engine placement and the driving wheels location.
The engine placement is a big factor to determine the moment of inertia and the weight distribution of car because many other mechanical/electrical components of a car are usually located close to the engine.
This drivetrain layout is usually employed by high end sports car and most of the formula one race cars.
