Magazine (firearm) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Certain magazines can be readily identified by their appearance, such as those of the AK-type assault rifles, while with others it can be more difficult to tell what gun they belong to, such as when comparing the Ruger Mini-14's magazines with AR-15/M16 magazines.
The tubular magazine was made obsolete for military purposes with the introduction of pointed "Spitzer" bullets, which risk igniting cartridges stored in the magazine as the pointed bullet impacts the primer of the cartridge ahead of it during recoil.
The rotary or spool magazine consists of a star-shaped rotor, or sprocket, actuated by a torsion spring.

Drum magazine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A drum magazine is a type of magazine that is cylindrical in shape, similar to a drum.
The advantage over traditional box-shaped magazines is that a drum magazine can carry much more ammunition, usually over double that of a box magazine, such as the 71-round magazine for the Russian PPSh-41 submachine gun.
Drum magazines are also used in aircraft guns such as the M61 Vulcan and the GAU-8 Avenger.

Drum was a perfectly timed literary renaissance which created the opportunity for a disparate cast of young, gifted and courageous fl writers to engage and contribute on a higher level than the political dispensation allowed.
Drum illustrated the tragic paradox of apartheid life - the blatant racism and chilling inhumanities juxtaposed against a class-less and culture-less vision of life that aspired to the ideal that all people were inherently good.
Drum was a brilliant mirror of society, preserving cultural pride and identity, injecting a self confidence into the heart of the people, enabling them to fight with courage.

The drum part is just as integral and important as some of the other stuff that goes on.
Depending on the song, most of the time the guitar and the drums are the rhythm section, and the bass is more of a low-end foundation.
DRUM!: It's funny that you would say that, because I felt that the bass drum sound on "Dirty Water Dog" from the new album sounded a lot like Bonham's bass drum on "When The Levee Breaks." Van Halen: Yeah, well, the song's that much more open because of the thinness of the guitar.

In my travels as a drum journalist, one thing I've heard from a lot of my interview subjects is that, during practice, they would learn from the best by playing along to records or CDs.
The volume of the drum set, even when played at relatively low levels, was always more than enough to drown out all but a shadow of the music.
The reduced isolation actually turned out to be a benefit during practice, as the sound of the bass drum gained fuller presence, even as the balance between the music inside and the drums outside remained very comfortable and workable.

A wind-up drum is a great way to store a loaded magazine long-term without the worry of a compressed spring loosing its ability to deliver enough push to empty a magazine.
Depress the spring loaded button in the center of the drum and turn the spindle clockwise until the magazine follower is returned to the beginning of the spiral track.
Periodically, the magazine should be cleaned with solvent to prevent the build-up of unburned powder and grit in the spiral track.

Arthur Maimane (1932-): Arthur Maimane is his direct reflection on the historical era of Drum magazine, forty years after the fact, reflected on what he considers to have been its golden period as exemplified by what he refers to as its most brilliant exponent.
Nxumalo and Maimane were adamant in their belief that Drum magazine should centrally concern itself with popular culture and the popular imgaination, in contrast to Ezekiel Mphahlele and Lewis Nkosi who insisted that the review should largely concern itself with high culture and the intellectual imagination of the emerging African middle class.
The problem with the Drum generation of writers is that they failed to place their writing within the context of the long tradition of verbal art, both oral and written, especially that devoted to the struggle.

Drum was printed in three editions: one for Joburg, another aimed at the coloured market in Cape Town, and one for Indians in KwaZulu-Natal.

He's proud of the fact that the majority of drum tracks on Mechanical Animals was recorded on his acoustics.
Fish had a good reason to hide behind his drums during the Antichrist tour back then, Manson got into the habit of flinging heavy mike stands at Fish's skull during per-formances, sometimes sending the drummer to the hospital.
