In 1964 he was elected to the council for the county of Ontario where he served in the capacities of reeve and councillor.
In 1996 at the Federation of Canadian Municipalities convention in Calgary, many including myself heard the prime minister acknowledge the importance of municipal governments and that it was time to recognize the municipal governments in their right.
By breaking up with regions for different gear types we are creating a system where fewer fishers are able to fish for longer periods and be more assured of an income and of a fishery than would otherwise be the case.

In order to obtain a numerator, we compared the overall number of firms located in the region in question with the total number of firms at the same technological level in all of Québec.
When the quotient is equal to 1, this means that the region is average by Québec standards in terms of technological intensity.
These regions as well as Québec as a whole, desperately need to boost technological efforts as much as possible while favouring the implantation of high-tech industries.

Regional operations commissioner George McLellan recommends in the staff report that the regional council appoint an architectural firm to prepare detailed design proposals and firm cost estimates on the preferred option.
The regional council has been meeting at the Halifax County council chambers on Dutch Village Road since January because it's the only one of the current four chambers big enough for the mayor and 23 councillors.
The chambers in Dartmouth and the county are too small and appear difficult to enlarge because of how they're situated in their buildings, it says.
