MITRE - Our Work - Technical Papers - 2004 Technical Papers - Applying CSCW and HCI Techniques to Human-Robot ...
We analyzed the performance of robotic teams at two USAR robotics competitions using adaptations of techniques from the human-computer interaction (HCI) field and determined that problems experienced by the operators or robots could be traced to a lack of awareness on the part of the operator of the robots’ status, location, or immediate surroundings.
To aid analysis, we developed a taxonomy of HRI-related characteristics, evaluation guidelines, a coding scheme that categorizes HRI activities, and a fine-grained definition of HRI awareness based on awareness research from computer-supported cooperative work (CSCW).
As a result, we are beginning to determine design guidelines for HRI that are being used in developing next-generation robots at the University of Massachusetts Lowell.

Order Phasmatodea - West Indies, Historical Review Text
Drury published the first descriptions and accurate illustrations of Antillean stick-insects when he described Mantis linearis, M.
In his synopsis of the then-known phasmatids, Gray (1835) noted eight species as occurring in the West Indies, and described four more: Bacteria simplicitarsis, Diapherodes glabricollis, D.
Despite its flaws, that work became the base on which future phasmatid taxonomy would be built.

To get you started, consider this quotation from the preface of Michel Foucault's The Order of Things:
In the wonderment of this taxonomy, the thing we apprehend in one great leap, the thing that, by means of the fable, is demonstrated as the exotic charm of another system of thought, is the limitation of our own, the stark impossibility of thinking that."
