According to Lietuva Statoil executives, the Druskininkai municipality took the legal initiative on their own, and that under a coordinated action agreement between Statoil and Druskininkai, the municipality is responsible for preparing the site for construction.
In his letter to the acting prime minister Adamkus then said he expected the Gentvilas-led cabinet to revise the government decision of May 28 on the transferring of a non-agricultural plot of land in Druskininkai to the resort's municipality and take account of the ecology requirements and arguments advanced by the town's residents.

We finished out material for Alytus and took off for Druskininkai, a town famous in Lithuania for its spas and resorts.
I did have someone ask me what part of Lithuania my accent was from, and I did get a good picture of a group of kids.
We were tempted to stay in Druskininkai, but figured that wouldn't be nice to all the other people back at HQ who I'm sure were working very hard.

A special commission, which investigated the chopping of the 0.4-hectare forest, ruled earlier this week that the municipality of Lithuania's mineral water resort of Druskininkai did not have a right to transfer the ownership rights of the forest to Lietuva Statoil, a subsidiary of Norway's Statoil running a chain of filling stations.
In an attempt to take over the ownership rights of the acres, the Druskininkai administration maintained there were no trees growing in the territory at issue.
Palavinskas, the resigned environment vice-minister, was also aware of the situation because he was the chief architect in Druskininkai before his appointment to the ministry.
