  Dry dock - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A floating drydock is a specialised ship used in salvage which is constructed with floodable buoyancy chambers in a "U" shaped cross section that can support the hull of a ship needing repair.
Some drydocks are used for the construction of large objects such as parts of bridge or dams.
For example the drydock of Neeltje-Jans was used for the construction of the Oosterscheldekering, a large dam in the Netherlands consists out of 62 concrete pillars weighing 18000 tonnes each.
