Although the line-up has been very fluid, some members of the band have been semi-permanent, notably Bim Sherman (vocals), Deadly Headley (saxophone) and Dr.

 Towering Dub Inferno
Towering Dub Inferno is a favorite amongst the dub heads, and while it does contain some nice tracks, I'd don't know if it's that special.
If nothing else, this album is varied, featuring acts from Jamaica (Lee "Scratch" Perry, Prince Far-I) to the UK (Mad Professor, Dub Syndicate) to Japan (Mute Beat, 21st Century Dub).
As with the '90s Dub Or Die series, the tunes on Towering Dub Inferno are culled from ROIR's '80s releases; as such, some of the tracks are shared between the two sets.

While the word "dub" can refer to almost any instrumental reworking of an existing recording, it most commonly refers to instrumental reggae.
Dub was accidentally invented by Osbourne Ruddock (King Tubby) at Duke Reid's Treasure Isle studio in '68.
The music has unquestionably played a key role in the development of hip hop (especially with regard to toasting), drum and bass, jungle, and to a large extent, downtempo.

In a similar mold is the reworking of the haunting "Away With the Bad," introduced by chilling horns, flute, and Brown's wordless wail.
Termination Dub is the ideal meeting of two reggae greats, serving as an excellent introduction, both to Brown's production legacy and Tubby's mixing skills.

The mix itself is comprised of mostly upfront vocal numbers from an array of talented toasters and wailers, with largely instrumental exceptions being "Sound Clash" and "Dubbing Is A Must." The tunes are always rootsy, bursting with praise for Jah Rastafari as well as an acute understanding of local and global struggle.
As should be expected by anyone familiar with Scott's quarter century of work, the deck is heavily stacked with veterans who naturally dominate, as is clear when Cedric Myton, one half of renowned duo The Congos, takes charge on the memorable "No Bed Of Roses" with his ageless falsetto.
Of this material, standouts include the otherworldy "One In A Billion Dub," featuring Luciano, and the groovy "Patient Man." The aforementioned "No Bed Of Roses" returns in an alternate take, as do a few others heard earlier, but there is enough to make this a very worthwhile package.

Dub Syndicate : Pounding System - Listen, Review and Buy at ARTISTdirect
Paralleling other English reggae outfits like UB40 and Mad Professor's Ariwa band during the late '70s and early '80s, Adrian Sherwood's various On U Sound outfits took off from Jamaican dub and vocal music to create something both similar and unique.
This Dub Syndicate debut from 1982 captures most of the attractive mix and remains one of Sherwood's best releases.
While maybe not as daring as more electronica-minded and big beat-filled releases that followed, Pounding System has stood the test of time better than many On U Sound titles with its subtle marriage of Jamaican music and Sherwood's aesthetics.

For dub fiends, beat freaks, and lovers of all manner of dark ambience, Brooklyn's Wordsound label has a sort of talismanic significance.
Slotek's "Born God" is a sort of Brooklyn musique concrète, while spectre's "Revelations" uses an explicitly reggae-derived bass line to buttress a strangely abstract conglomeration of drum-machine beats and creepily altered vocals.
