I used to love the “new” Dubai Airport when it opened, since it was a big change from the old terminals where one had to be bussed to the aircraft and board via stairs.
How Dubai airport manages to maintain its position in the top three international airports in so many surveys is beyond me. I would ask any survey company to actually travel through Dubai at midnight right now (and the last four months and the next five months).
Using Dubai 4 to 6 times a month in transit to and from South Asia, my impression is that of an airport with an efficient lay-out for transit passengers, less so for arriving or departing passengers given the long walk to and from immigration.
