Its official name is "the County of Dukes County." As of 2000, the population is 14,987.
In the county the population is spread out with 22.70% under the age of 18, 5.50% from 18 to 24, 29.60% from 25 to 44, 27.80% from 45 to 64, and 14.40% who are 65 years of age or older.
