While the first quarter was won by Duluth, the second quarter was all Lumberjacks, as their quarterbacks found their rhythm, and their offense began to show glimpses of its potential.
On the second half kick-off, the Lumberjacks looked poised to run away with the game, when Norm Alston recovered another Duluth fumble, but the Shoremen stepped up, proving that, while they may be newcomers to the MFL, they aren’t to be taken lightly.
And so, with the 2005 season behind them, the Lumberjacks under Coach MacKinnon are undefeated, and while their play was suspect at times, he now knows that his team is capable of being a great football team.

Duluth Marshall got on the board first when Robin Johnson scored in the 33rd minute, but Cloquet’s top scorer Cassi Johnson, evened things up just two minutes later in the 34th minute.

Duluth's Wade Stadium was named for Dick Wade, a resident who had played for the Washington Senators and whose family was key in bringing back baseball to the Twin Ports.
Still, the rivalry between Duluth and Superior was too great for the league to ignore, so a new franchise was placed in Superior in 1936, where the Blues played until 1956, when the team was moved to Wausau.

On October 6, 2004, the Canadian-American Association of Professional Baseball, or Can-Am League for short, was reborn with the Bangor Lumberjacks, Brockton Rox, Elmira Pioneers, New Haven County Cutters, New Jersey Jackals, North Shore Spirit and Les Capitales de Quebec as the charter members.

From the opening minutes of play it looked like the Proctor boys basketball team was on track to bury the Cloquet Lumberjacks, in a very important Lake Superior Conference showdown.
The Lumberjacks came out to start the third quarter looking like a much different team with an 8-2 scoring run.
It all came down to the final 14.5 seconds of the game with the score knotted at 53 points.

Being Minnesota born and raised, I am embarrassed to admit that before our trip, Duluth’s shoreline is all I knew of Lake Superior.
I spent the day we were on the northeast side of Superior worried we would pass it by mistake.
