The Duma (Ду́ма in Russian) is the name of the lower house of the Russian parliament.
It stated that Tsar's ministers could not be appointed by and were not responsible to the Duma, thus denying representative government at the executive level.
The Fourth Duma of 1912—1917 was also of limited political influence; however, it played a role in the events of 1917, partly cooperating with the provisional government.

 Duma Nokwe
Duma contested the order, which conflicted with a Supreme Court rule that the offices of a barrister must be within reach of the court, but the issue was largely academic.
Duma Nokwe's work in exile in the spheres of diplomacy and propaganda helped to win for the ANC the recognition and respect of the international community, and he was a well-known figure at meetings of the OAU and the UN and the many conferences on South Africa called by various anti-apartheid organisations.
Duma Nokwe was not only a staunch nationalist but an equally staunch internationalist, a firm friend of the Soviet Union who welcomed the support for the cause of liberation of the international communist movement and the progressive forces in all countries.

CNS - The Duma Ratifies the Moscow Treaty
On May 14, 2003 the State Duma, the lower house of the Federal Assembly (the Russian parliament), ratified the Strategic Offensive Reductions Treaty (also known as SORT or the Moscow Treaty) by 294 votes against 134 with 22 abstaining.
Ratification of the Moscow Treaty by the Duma was widely expected and, in a sense, inevitable given the high interest of the government, including and especially President Putin, in that treaty.
Of greater interest is the contents of the documents approved by the Duma, in particular the greater role these documents accord to the legislature in the decisions on the future of the Russian nuclear forces and arms control policy.

The story told in "Duma" is simple only on the surface: One night a young white South African boy named Xan (Alex Michaletos) is driving down a dark ribbon of road with his dad (Campbell Scott) when he spots an orphaned cheetah cub wobbling toward the danger of oncoming traffic.
Those words are the beginning of a serious adventure for Xan and Duma, one involving loss and grief, but also one that proves to Xan he has the resources to deal with whatever comes his way -- they're in his bones, in his blood.
"Duma" is the sort of story that's sometimes unthinkingly called formulaic, but the better word for it is "archetypal" -- it speaks to some of the deepest feelings, and fears, in all of us.

Duma is based on the true story of a South African boy's perilous travels through farmland, savannah, desert and jungle to return a young cheetah to its native wilds.
Duma is no exception: The details of the “story” are conveyed as much in the rustling trees, rushing rivers, moaning winds and the cries, grunts and growls of wild creatures, as in conventional dialog.

Out of 450 deputies in the current Duma 34 are women (8 percent), down from 46 (10 percent) in the preceding Duma.
The 1993 Duma included a group from the women's movement "Women of Russia" (WR), but in 1995 WR narrowly failed to reach the 5 percent threshold for entry into the Duma by party lists.
From her study of the records of Duma proceedings, the author finds that women deputies do express with greater frequency than their male colleagues attitudes that reflect supposedly female values such as pacifism, compassion, and concern for people's health.
