Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown is located to the south-east of the City of Dublin, and has its administrative centre in the town of Dún Laoghaire.
Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown is bordered by the Irish Sea and Dublin City, as well as the counties of South Dublin and Wicklow.
In 1994, the area of the Corporation of Dún Laoghaire, the Deansgrange Joint Burial Board and the south-east part of County Dublin were merged to create the county of Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown.

Dn Laoghaire (can be pronounced "Dunleary" or [roughly] "Doonlairah") is a seaside town and a ferry port situated 11 km (7 miles) south of Dublin in the county of Dn Laoghaire - Rathdown.
Dn Laoghaire is connected to central Dublin by the DART suburban railway, frequent bus service, and has a ferry connection to Holyhead in Anglesey, Wales.
The area to the north of the West Pier is heavily used year-round by windsurfers as a launch point, although occasionally dinghy schools use it in the summer.

These baths, and the seafront in which they are located, belong to the people of Dun Laoghaire Rathdown, and a proposal for development on this site should only proceed with the consent of the general public.
I have consistently argued that Dun Laoghaire Baths should be re-developed as an accessible public amenity, in a manner which is sensitive to the local environment.

Incredibly, in some areas in Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown, the council are still breaking the law by charging people a flat charge that do not have wheelie bins and can’t have the rubbished weighed in the new system.
In a statement, Richard Boyd Barrett, chairperson the campaign opposing the bin tax in Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown says the circut ruling that a flat bin tax was unlawful may have the biggest implications in that county.
A flat charge was in place for five years in Dun Laoghaire Rathdown and higher than anywhere else in Dublin.
