		Talorcan became king in 653; in the next year, he defeated and killed Dunchad, king of the Dalriada Scots, in battle at Strath Ethairt.
		He seems to have been friendly towards Oswiu of Northumbria, and it is possible he was a puppet of Oswiu, the most powerful king in Britain at the time.
