Duncton Wood (Book of Silence, book 1) by William Horwood
Duncton Wood is the story of a quest into the nature of love and greed, oppression and freedom, courage and corruption - of a quest, finally, into the nature of grace and the power of the spirit.
The moles of Duncton Wood are a varied lot.
But the source of the evil that spreads through Duncton lies not only in Mandrake but in the growing disinterest in the rites and traditions that surround the now deserted standing Stone that was once the heart of the system itself.
